Hands on Workshop in the Expanded Field of Ceramics
SLAM presents an open call for artists/ceramicists interested in working experimentally with clay at Ifö Center in Bromölla, Sweden, during one week in October 2019 (6–12).
Collaboratively, or individually, we will be exploring clay in the expanded field through performative and/or temporary projects. The workshop’s aim is to share, discuss and document together. And also to enable alternative approaches in clay- and ceramic art, as well as a possibility to study the site and the rich history of the works and the local community. The projects can relate to the surrounding architecture and infrastructure, to the site’s geological conditions and it’s industrial production. The participants will also visit Ivön, a nature preserve nearby, where one can see the geological traces of the factory’s clay- and kaolin mining. Close by is also Ifö Industrial museum.
